  47. I suspect that if you had the source, you would spend a long time
  48. making it work on a Unix box.  It is my understanding that 
  49. the Baycom software is heavily reliant on the PC hardware and
  50. does timing in a way that might be somewhat incompatible
  51. with Unix.  Not to say that it couldn't be modified to work, but
  52. it would be a lot of work.  Maybe it would be easier to 
  53. write a duplicate program based on Unix.

  73. OK; we know that the HP-95LX can be put onto packet (thanks to Jay,
  74. I believe).  What about the Newton PDA?  It has a serial port (and
  75. an I/R port), but the keyboard, well, I did the usual test of writing
  76. my name on it, and it rendered it as "Daily Horrible", much to the
  77. XYL's amusement...

  79. Seriously, is there a use for the Newton on packet?  One price I got
  80. here in Oz was AU$1495, so they aren't cheap...

  93. I've just installed an MFJ 2400 baud modem into my PK232 which has the 
  94. TAPR DCD mod.  After lots of headaches, it's basically working; i.e. 
  95. the data, clock, PTT and DCD signals are (finally!) interfaced properly.

  97. BTW the headaches were due to incorrect/incomplete/contradictory 
  98. documentation for the modem board.  (I'm gonna give it one last shot to 
  99. try to get a schematic from MFJ for the exact rev. board that I 
  100. have...)

  102. The only problem remaining is that it sometimes misses packets which, I 
  103. think, is due to the DCD time constants for 1200 being too slow for 
  104. 2400.
  105.  
  106. Can anyone suggest what needs to be changed on the DCD board and what 
  107. it would need to be changed to?  Am I correct to assume that nothing on 
  108. the PK232 needs to be changed?

  122. tcp digest that I see on several of the tcp/ip systems. Is it possible
  123. to ftp to them to just get a few of the digests? I don't want to
  124. subscribe and get deluged with a ton of info I barely understand.

  156. I am looking for my own perfect NOS. I am without a Turbo C compiler (I have 
  157. only Microsoft C), hence am left to searching for compiled versions. Many 
  158. versions have parts of what I want, but none have everything. I am looking 
  159. for a nos with NNTP, SMTP, PopMail, Finger, Ftp, telnet, etc. A gopher 
  160. client would be nice, too. And it must support SLIP. Any help that can be 
  161. offered would be appreciated.
