I suspect that if you had the source, you would spend a long time
making it work on a Unix box. It is my understanding that
the Baycom software is heavily reliant on the PC hardware and
does timing in a way that might be somewhat incompatible
with Unix. Not to say that it couldn't be modified to work, but
it would be a lot of work. Maybe it would be easier to
write a duplicate program based on Unix.
Just IMHO, of course.
Jim.

OK; we know that the HP-95LX can be put onto packet (thanks to Jay,
I believe). What about the Newton PDA? It has a serial port (and
an I/R port), but the keyboard, well, I did the usual test of writing
my name on it, and it rendered it as "Daily Horrible", much to the
XYL's amusement...
Seriously, is there a use for the Newton on packet? One price I got
here in Oz was AU$1495, so they aren't cheap...

Subject: TAPR DCD time constants
To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu
I've just installed an MFJ 2400 baud modem into my PK232 which has the
TAPR DCD mod. After lots of headaches, it's basically working; i.e.
the data, clock, PTT and DCD signals are (finally!) interfaced properly.
BTW the headaches were due to incorrect/incomplete/contradictory
documentation for the modem board. (I'm gonna give it one last shot to
try to get a schematic from MFJ for the exact rev. board that I
have...)
The only problem remaining is that it sometimes misses packets which, I
think, is due to the DCD time constants for 1200 being too slow for
2400.
Can anyone suggest what needs to be changed on the DCD board and what
it would need to be changed to? Am I correct to assume that nothing on
the PK232 needs to be changed?
All suggestions gratefully accepted!

I probably got that name wrong but I'm close. I know they publish the
tcp digest that I see on several of the tcp/ip systems. Is it possible
to ftp to them to just get a few of the digests? I don't want to
subscribe and get deluged with a ton of info I barely understand.
Thanks...

I'm considering the merits of the features on the Timewave DSP-59 vs
the DSP-9.
Have you any comments about these units?

Subject: Where can I find my perfect NOS?
To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu
I am looking for my own perfect NOS. I am without a Turbo C compiler (I have
only Microsoft C), hence am left to searching for compiled versions. Many
versions have parts of what I want, but none have everything. I am looking
for a nos with NNTP, SMTP, PopMail, Finger, Ftp, telnet, etc. A gopher
client would be nice, too. And it must support SLIP. Any help that can be
offered would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Andy Silliker

Subject: Where is the FAQ?
To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu
I'm interested in digital ham and I need info on equipment, licensing,
and software. I have DOS boxes but would much rather run under Unix.
Maybe there is a FAQ? If so where?

I'm trying to locate DOS and Windows software to operate the Yaesu

you would forward the info.
Many thanks!
